SKYSIL HF-685 SILICA MATTING AGENT FOR COIL COATING

In high-speed, continuous coil coating production, the choice of matting agent directly impacts coating surface quality and process stability.

HF-685, through precise physical and chemical parameter design, provides reliable matte performance for coil coatings.

1. High Purity and Thermal Stability (SiO₂ ≥ 99%, Loss on Ignition ≤ 7.0%)

The ultra-high purity reduces impurities from interfering with the resin curing reaction; the low loss on ignition ensures no decomposition

residue during the high-temperature baking of the coil coating (PMT 220-240°C), preventing yellowing and bubbles in the coating and

ensuring outdoor weather resistance.

2. Large Particle Size Control (6.0-7.0μm)

The slightly larger particle size compared to SL-680 facilitates uniform dispersion during high-speed roller coating (100-200 m/min). Its

micron-level surface roughness achieves stable matte (60° gloss 20-50 GU) while reducing the risk of coating leveling defects.

3. High Porosity (pore volume 1.8-2.0 ml/g) and Oil Absorption (260-300 ml/100 g)

The porous structure significantly improves light scattering efficiency, achieving high matting performance at low addition levels. High

oil absorption requires optimization with rheological additives to prevent sagging during high-speed coating and ensure uniform film

thickness.

4. Ultra-white substrate (whiteness ≥ 95)

This prevents the matting agent's own color from interfering with the hue of light-colored coatings, particularly meeting the color rendering

requirements of high-end pre-coated panels such as light gray/ivory white for architectural applications.

5. Strict Moisture Control (Loss on Drying ≤ 5.0%)

This suppresses pinholes caused by moisture evaporation during high-temperature curing, improves coating density, and enhances

corrosion protection for the substrate (meets ASTM B117 salt spray test requirements). 6. Neutral pH (6.0-7.0) and Untreated

The native surface properties ensure compatibility with coiling resins such as polyester and PVDF, preventing gelation or curing

abnormalities during storage due to acidity or alkalinity.
