Tetrapropylammonium hydroxide (TPAOH) cas:4499-86-9 is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with strong alkalinity, which can be used as a catalyst or reaction medium; The molecule of tetrapropylammonium hydroxide contains four propyl substituents. Tetrapropyl ammonium hydroxide has good solubility in water and is often a solution of ammonium hydroxide. The synthesis of tetrapropylammonium hydroxide involves the reaction of ammonium hydroxide with tetrapropylammonium bromide: heating the ammonium hydroxide solution to a certain temperature. Slowly add tetrapropylammonium bromide and stir to ensure the reaction proceeds uniformly. After the reaction is complete, cool the reaction mixture and separate tetrapropylammonium hydroxide using extraction or distillation methods. Tetrapropyl ammonium hydroxide can be used as a strong alkaline reagent for deprotonation reactions and catalytic reactions in organic synthesis. It can also be used as cleaner, emulsifier or foam agent. In the water treatment process, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide can be used as a flocculant to remove suspended solids and pollutants from water. In the semiconductor manufacturing process, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide can be used for cleaning and processing silicon wafers.
