5 week agoPreparation method of benzyl trimethylammonium tribromide cas: 111865-47-5: Dissolve 9.3g (50mmol) of benzyl trimethylammonium chloride and 3.8g (25mmol) of sodium hypobromite in a mixed solvent of 80ml of water and 50ml of dichloromethane. Under ice bath cooling and stirring, slowly add 30.2g (175mmol) of 47% hydrobromic acid dropwise for about 15 minutes. Separate the organic layer and extract the aqueous layer with dichloromethane. Combine the organic layers and dry with anhydrous MgSO4. Evaporate the solvent and recrystallize the residue with dichloromethane ether (5:1) to obtain 16.6g of benzyl trimethylammonium tribromide cas: 111865-47-5 as orange red crystals, with a yield of 85%;Benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide is mainly used as a brominating reagent in organic synthesis, which can slowly release bromine in the reaction and can be used as a mild oxidant. Benzyltrimethylammonium tribromide can be regarded as solid bromine, which is easy to weigh and use as a solid. Under certain conditions, it can be used as a bromination reagent for aromatic hydrocarbons, aromatic amines, and phenols.
