Product details
Graphite electrodes, as conductive materials in electric arc furnace smelting, have a proportional relationship with the consumption of electrical work. Modern electric arc furnace steelmaking uses electrical and chemical energy as thermal energy to achieve the purpose of four reductions (P, C, O, S), two eliminations (gas, impurities), and two adjustments (temperature, composition) in the steelmaking process. The application performance of graphite electrodes in users is mainly reflected in whether they are applicable and how much they consume, and the consumption of electrodes is directly related to their own quality. The consumption of graphite electrodes during electric arc furnace operation mainly consists of the following parts. With the rapid development of China's economy, the demand for special steel in all industries is becoming increasingly widespread, which has led to the rapid development of electric arc furnace steelmaking technology. Large-capacity and ultra-high-power electric arc furnaces and large-scale out-of-furnace refining technologies have become the hallmarks of the modern steel industry. This simultaneously promotes the matching of different powers of graphite electrodes, such as RP graphite electrodes, HP graphite electrodes, and UHP graphite electrodesThere are currently 18 crude arc furnaces with A capacity of over 100 tons in China, and the transformer capacity ranges from 65 to 150MV*A. There are approximately 30 electric arc furnaces with A capacity of 50 to 100 tons, and the transformer capacity is 35 to 85MV*A. There are 126 LF refining furnaces with capacities ranging from 40 to 300 tons, and the transformer capacity is 10 to 45MN*A. These electric furnaces all employ ultra-high power graphite electrodes of different specifications. With the continuous increase of arc power and the continuous optimization of smelting process technology, the requirements for the physical and chemical properties of graphite electrodes are getting higher and higher, and the consumption targets are getting lower and lower. From the perspective of the average consumption level of large-scale and high-capacity ultra-high power electric arc furnaces, the average consumption per ton of steel electrode has decreased from 3.5KG/T in the past to 1.2KG/T, while the average consumption of LF furnaces is all lower than 0.5KG/T. Because graphite electrodes account for a certain proportion of the cost and consume a large amount in the process, all application manufacturers attach great importance to the consumption and application effect of graphite electrodes or carbon electrode, and also include it in the production as an important assessment target.
