Precautions for using graphite electrodes:

Graphite electrodes that have been exposed to moisture should be dried before use.

2. Remove the foam plastic protective cap from the spare graphite electrode hole and check whether the internal thread of the electrode hole is intact.

3. Clean the surface of the spare graphite electrode and the internal threads of the hole with oil-free and water-free compressed air. Avoid cleaning with steel wire balls or metal brush sandpaper.

4. Carefully screw the connector into the electrode hole at one end of the spare graphite electrode (it is not recommended to directly install the connector into the electrode that has been removed from the furnace), and do not collide with the thread.

5. Screw the electrode lifting gear (it is recommended to use a lifting gear made of graphite) into the electrode hole at the other end of the spare electrode.

6. When lifting the electrode, place a soft object under the end of the spare electrode installation joint to prevent the ground from damaging the joint. After inserting the hook into the lifting ring of the lifting gear and lifting, the electrode should be lifted steadily to prevent it from loosening at the B end or colliding with other fixing devices.

7. Hoist the spare electrode above the electrode to be connected, align it with the electrode hole, and then lower it slowly. Rotate the spare electrode to make the spiral hook rotate and descend together with the electrode. When the end faces of the two electrodes are 10-20mm apart, clean the exposed parts of the two end faces of the electrodes and the joints with compressed air again. When fully lowering the electrode at the end, do not do it too forcefully; otherwise, due to violent collision, the electrode holes and the threads of the joints may be damaged.

8. Use a torque wrench to tighten the spare electrode until the end faces of the two electrodes are in close contact (the correct connection gap between the electrode and the joint is less than 0.05mm).

9. Please select different grades of graphite electrodes according to the power of the electric furnace, such as graphite electrode RP, graphite electrode HP, and graphite electrode UHP.
