Introduction to EDM Wire-Cut Machine

The EDM wire-cut machine (Wire Electrical Discharge Machining, referred to as Wire EDM) is a precision equipment for metal processing utilizing the principle of electrical discharge. Its core working principle is as follows: a high-frequency pulse voltage is applied between the electrode wire (usually molybdenum wire, copper wire, etc.) and the workpiece, causing the medium (generally deionized water) between them to break down and generate spark discharge. The instantaneous high temperature melts and erodes the metal on the workpiece surface. Through the continuous movement of the electrode wire and the precise numerical control movement of the worktable, the workpiece with the preset shape is finally cut out.

This equipment features high precision and high complexity processing capabilities, and is particularly suitable for processing high-hardness and complex-shaped metal materials (such as die steel, cemented carbide, titanium alloy, etc.). Moreover, almost no mechanical stress is generated during the processing, which can effectively ensure the precision and integrity of the workpiece. Mainstream models are mostly controlled by a numerical control system (CNC), enabling automatic programming and processing, and supporting 2D and 3D complex contour cutting.
