Turcite A rod blue

Turcite™ is a family of materials made from both Acetal resins and PTFE.  The acetal-based Turcite products are known for exhibiting good strength and stiffness, dimensional stability, resistant to abrasion with very low stick-slip in dynamic applications.

Turcite A and X are the most popular of the acetal-based versions where copolymer resins are blended with low friction and wear additives.

Turcite A and X are common to many industrial applications since they are chemically inert to most solvents.  They are a good choice for enhanced extrusion resistance in dynamic load applications. 

The other side of the Turcite family are modified PTFE materials used for both bearing and seal applications. Turcite B is a popular linear bearing material for the machine tool industry and there are many Turcite grades used in industrial seals, wipers and wear rings for hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, valves and other control devices.

With the development of the plastics industry, more and more companies and organisations are focusing on plastics modification, copolymerisation and blending, which has resulted in the emergence of a number of high-performance engineering plastics, of which Turcite A and Turcite X are one. Turcite A and Turcite X are thermoplastic, self-lubricating bearing materials produced in the United States of America, and the series of materials have a low-cost, chemical-resistant and wear-resistant. The maximum temperature for continuous operation is 82°C.

Turcite A and Turcite X are modified materials based on paraformaldehyde. Through copolymerisation and blending with PTFE and other materials, the structure of the materials has been optimised, so that the excellent properties of the materials have been retained and brought into play, especially wear resistance and self-lubrication, and the performance of the materials can be compared with that of similar products from DuPont. Currently, Turcite series materials are only available in rods, not sheets.

Turcite A is blue in colour and some customers refer to it directly as blue rubber or blue rubber rod. It is suitable for use in medium to heavy duty and speed environments and offers high abrasion resistance and excellent service life.

Turcite X is red in colour and some customers refer to it directly as Red Rubber or Red Rubber Stick. Suitable for use in low load and high RPM environments, the high abrasion resistance and longevity allows it to maintain integrity throughout the life of the application, saving maintenance costs.

The excellent self-lubricating and maintenance-free properties of Turcite A and Turcite X have led to a wide range of applications in microelectronic devices.
