Rectangular Plastic Shim for Windows Waterproofing

Function:

These packers are slid underneath or beside a window or door frame during installation. They are used to prop it up to the correct height and ensure it is perfectly level and square within the rough opening before it is screwed into place and sealed.

While its main job is leveling and support, the Flat Glazing Packer plays a critical indirect role in waterproofing:

Proper Drainage: Windows are designed to drain any incidental water that enters the system to the outside. If a window is not level, water can pool inside the frame instead of draining out, leading to leaks and water damage. Packers ensure the correct slope for drainage.

Prevents Frame Distortion: By providing even support along the entire frame, packers prevent the window from twisting or bowing when it is fastened. A distorted frame can break the seal between the window and the weather-resistant barrier, creating a path for water.

Stable Base for Sealing: A window that is firmly shimmed and not moving provides a stable, predictable surface for applying the final waterproofing sealants and flashing tapes, ensuring a long-lasting, watertight bond.
