Material

 

ASTM A178 specifies electric-resistance-welded (ERW) carbon steel and carbon-manganese steel tubes intended for boiler, superheater, and heat-exchanger applications. These tubes are designed to withstand high-pressure and high-temperature conditions in power generation and industrial heating systems.

  • Grade A: Carbon steel (low carbon content, good formability)

  • Grade C: Carbon-manganese steel (higher strength and toughness)

  • Grade D: Carbon-molybdenum steel (improved creep resistance at higher temperatures)
