Drop Forged Wire Rope Clip | Poleline Hardware | FF-C-450 Type 1 Class 1

The Ultimate Grip for Critical Deadending Applications of pole line hardwares.
The Yokelink Drop Forged Wire Rope Clip is engineered to provide a secure, high-strength termination for guy wires and steel cables in utility, telecommunication, and rigging applications. When socketing or splicing is not an option, these heavy-duty clips deliver reliable, field-installable holding power.

Drop Forged Saddle for Maximum Safety, meet performance of FF-C-450 Type 1 Class 1. The demension are according to ASME B30.26.
Do not compromise your guying system with brittle malleable iron. The saddle (base) of our wire rope clip is drop-forged from high-yield carbon steel. This forged saddle features deeply grooved contours that perfectly match the profile of the wire rope, maximizing contact area and grip while preventing crushing or deformation of the strands.

Supplied complete with a heavy-duty U-bolt and two hex nuts, the entire assembly is fully Hot Dip Galvanized to ASTM A153 standards, ensuring decades of protection against severe weather and corrosive underground conditions.

Precision Fit: Grooved saddle base accurately matches guy wire contours.

Hardware: High-strength steel U-bolt and hex nuts ensure maximum clamping force.

Corrosion Resistance: Fully Hot Dip Galvanized (HDG) per ASTM A153.

Versatility: Ideal for poleline guying, antenna masts, and heavy rigging.

Production Process of Wire Rope Clip

The production of forged wire rope clip starts with selecting high-strength carbon steel raw materials, which are stamped and hot forged into U-shaped body, saddle and base parts. After trimming, deburring and precision shaping, matching bolts and nuts are processed with standard threads. Then heat treatment is carried out to enhance tensile strength and anti-slip performance. Next, the whole parts are hot-dip galvanized for corrosion protection. Finally, dimensional inspection, clamping force test and appearance check are completed before assembly and packaging.

Yokelink Quality Control and Testing Equipments for Forged Wire Rope Clips

We don't just reference FF-C-450 standards; we also verify them in practice: each batch of products undergoes destructive tensile testing in our internal laboratory to ensure load performance exceeds the minimum requirements of ASME B30.26. IEEE C135.2 or CSA C83 specification; we use optical comparators to ensure the geometric accuracy of chamfered tips and rolled threads, enabling convenient on-site installation; at the same time, we conduct comprehensive testing on Rockwell hardness, coating thickness, and other parameters, and each shipment is accompanied by the original manufacturer's material specifications (MTRs) and quality inspection reports, with all data traceable back to the raw material furnace number.

Application of  Forged Wire Rope Clip

Wire rope clips are essential fastening fittings used for fixing and connecting steel wire ropes in overhead power lines, communication towers, pole guying systems and outdoor engineering projects. They firmly clamp the wire rope end to prevent slipping and bear large tension safely. With high strength and anti-slip design, they are easy to install and maintain stable clamping force under long-term outdoor load. Hot-dip galvanized surface treatment provides excellent corrosion resistance. They are widely applied in guy wire fixation, anchoring and tension connection projects.

Yokelink Product Quality Inspection Report

We provide comprehensive inspection services for machine bolts, including SGS test bolts and formal Production Part Inspect Report (PPIR). The SGS tests verify the bolts’ compliance with international standards like ASTM A307 and IEEE C135.80, covering mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. The PPIR details all inspection items, ensuring each machine bolt meets dimensional, performance and quality requirements, providing reliable quality assurance for overhead line and industrial applications.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q1: What is the difference between Drop-Forged and Malleable wire rope clips?

A: Drop-Forged clips have a base (saddle) hammered from solid hot steel, aligning the grain structure for incredible strength and impact resistance. They are required for critical, overhead, or heavy-duty guying applications. Malleable (cast) clips are brittle, can crack under sudden loads, and should only be used for non-critical, light-duty tasks like fencing. Yokelink focuses on Drop-Forged clips for utility safety.

Q2: What is the proper way to install wire rope clips?

A: The golden rule in the industry is "Never saddle a dead horse." This means the forged saddle of the clip must always be placed on the "live" (load-bearing) end of the wire rope. The U-bolt must be placed over the "dead" (short, cut) end. Reversing this or alternating them will crush the live wire, significantly reducing the strength of the assembly.

Q3: How many clips do I need for my guy wire?

A: It strictly depends on the diameter of your steel guy strand. For example, a 1/4" or 3/8" strand typically requires a minimum of 2 clips per termination. A 1/2" or 5/8" strand requires at least 3 clips, and a 3/4" strand requires 4 clips. Always consult engineering guidelines for exact turnback lengths and clip spacing.

Q4: What does FF-C-450 Type 1 Class 1 mean for a wire rope clip?

A: This is the U.S. Federal Specification for wire rope clips. "Type 1" mandates that the saddle is drop-forged from solid steel for maximum strength, rather than brittle cast iron. "Class 1" requires a heavy Hot Dip Galvanized coating for corrosion resistance. Yokelink drop-forged clips strictly adhere to this standard, ensuring they are safe for critical utility overhead guying and rigging.

Q5: Can I use these clips directly with a Thimble Eye Nut?

A: Wire rope clips are used to secure the loop formed by the guy wire. If you are attaching your guy wire to an Anchor Rod, you loop the wire through the grooved channel of the Thimble Eye Nut, fold the "dead" end back along the "live" end, and secure them together using the wire rope clips.
