CBEA-LIN | Sun Hydraulics Cartridge Valve
Brand: Sun Hydraulics, USA
Type: 3-port internal drain pilot-operated counterbalance cartridge valve. It is used for load holding and preventing load free fall and runaway. Matches standard T-2A cavity.
1. Model Code Explanation (CBEA-LIN)
- CBE: Counterbalance valve series, T-2A cavity, internal drain design
- A: Standard configuration
- L: 3:1 pilot ratio
- IN: Standard pressure and flow rating
2. Main Technical Parameters (T-2A Cavity)
- Cavity: T-2A (medium-size cavity)
- Rated flow: 30 L/min (7.5 gpm)
- Maximum working pressure: 350 bar (5000 psi)
- Pressure adjustment range: 70 ~ 280 bar (1000 ~ 4000 psi)
- Preset pressure (fully clockwise): Approx. 14 bar (200 psi)
- Pilot ratio: 3:1
- Check valve cracking pressure: 1.7 bar (25 psi)
- Drain type: Internal drain (no separate external drain port). Back pressure at Port 2 will be superimposed on the set pressure
- Installation torque: 61 ~ 68 Nm (45 ~ 50 lbf·ft)
- Weight: Approx. 0.23 kg
3. Port Definition (3-port design)
- Port 1: Load port (Connect to hydraulic cylinder or motor)
- Port 2: Valve side port (Connect to directional control valve)
- Port 3: Pilot control port
4. Operating Principle
1. Forward flow (Port 2 → Port 1): The built-in check valve opens for free flow with low flow resistance.
2. Reverse load holding (Port 1 → Port 2): The main valve remains closed to lock the load and prevent free fall and overspeed movement.
3. Pilot control (Port 3): Supplying pilot pressure reduces the cracking pressure of the main valve at a 3:1 ratio, enabling smooth load lowering.
4. Internal drain feature: The spring chamber drains into Port 2. Circuit back pressure will be proportionally added to the valve set pressure.
5. Key Features
- Standard T-2A cavity, medium-low flow rate, suitable for compact installation spaces
- 3:1 standard pilot ratio for smooth operation and low impact with wide versatility
- Simple internal drain structure, compatible with conventional hydraulic circuits
- Extremely low internal leakage for excellent load holding performance
- Reset accuracy ≥ 85% of set pressure for stable and reliable operation
6. Typical Applications
- Construction machinery: Boom & arm cylinders of medium and small excavators, forklift lift cylinders, crane luffing cylinders
- Industrial hydraulics: Lifting platforms, telescopic booms, high-pressure clamping circuits and general synchronous hydraulic systems
- Operating conditions: Medium to high pressure, medium-low flow and vibrating environments; ideal for applications requiring load locking and smooth start & stop
7. Installation & Commissioning Guidelines
1. Set pressure: Adjust to no less than 1.3 times the maximum system load pressure to avoid pressure drift.
2. Pressure adjustment: Turn clockwise to decrease pressure; turn counterclockwise to increase pressure.
3. Back pressure note: Back pressure generated at Port 2 will add to the set pressure. Sufficient pressure margin shall be reserved during selection and commissioning.
8. Interchangeable Models (Same T-2A Cavity)
- CBEA-LIN: 3:1 pilot ratio, internal drain, 30 L/min (Standard model)
- CBDG-LKN: 4.5:1 pilot ratio, internal drain, 30 L/min
- CBEG-LJN: 10:1 pilot ratio, internal drain, 30 L/min
I. Product Overview

II. Technical Features
1. Pilot Control Technology:
The valve employs pilot control technology, achieving precise flow and pressure regulation through a pilot-operated check valve. With a pilot ratio of 3:1, changes in pilot pressure have minimal impact on the main spool, enhancing system stability.
2. Floating Structure Design:
Incorporating SUN Hydraulics' signature floating structure, the valve's tail end floats freely to minimize interference caused by excessive installation torque or bore machining errors. This reduces sensitivity to installation torque, prevents internal component seizure, and improves reliability and service life.
3. Wear-Resistant and Fatigue-Resistant Components:
All internal working components are heat-treated for wear resistance, impact resistance, and fatigue endurance, ensuring long operational life.
4. Low Leakage:
The valve exhibits extremely low leakage, with a maximum of 0.07 cc/min at specified viscosity, helping maintain system stability and efficiency.
5. Sealing and Material Technologies:
Depending on application requirements, the valve can be equipped with EPDM seals suitable for phosphate ester hydraulic fluid systems. Corrosion-resistant models are also available, identified by suffix codes (e.g., "/ap" or "/lh"), to meet diverse environmental demands.
