Working Of Reverse Osmosis

The core of Large Scale RO Filtration System lies in utilizing the selective permeability of a semi-permeable membrane, reversing the natural direction of osmosis by applying external pressure, thereby achieving the separation of solute and solvent.

Natural osmosis and osmotic pressure: When pure water and a solute-containing solution are separated by a semi-permeable membrane, under natural conditions, water molecules spontaneously flow through the semi-permeable membrane from the lower concentration side to the higher concentration side, causing the liquid level on the higher concentration side to rise.When the liquid level rises to a certain height and the pressure on both sides of the membrane reaches equilibrium, osmosis stops.

Professional Reverse Osmosis System process: If an applied operating pressure greater than its own osmotic pressure is exerted on the solution side, the original natural direction of osmosis will be reversed.At this point, the water molecules in the solution are forcibly pressed, passing through the semi-permeable membrane against the natural direction of osmosis into the lower concentration side, while impurities such as dissolved salts, heavy metals, organic matter, bacteria, and viruses in the water are retained on the high-pressure side.
