1. Product Positioning
The MSG-27P is an integrated hydraulic piston motor specially developed for 6–8 ton mini excavators. As the core hydraulic motor in the slewing circuit, it perfectly matches the whole machine hydraulic system. Equipped with planetary reduction and wet brake modules, it realizes 360° stable rotation of the upper carriage, and can be directly interchanged with original Kawasaki MSG series swing motors.
2. Assembly Structure
2.1 Hydraulic Piston Motor Main Body
It consists of cylinder block, piston-shoe assemblies, swash plate, valve plate, main shaft and complete sealing kits, plus built-in relief and charge valves. These valves cushion shock during start and stop, stabilize oil pressure in the hydraulic system and protect delicate hydraulic components.
2.2 Reduction & Brake Unit
The planetary gear reducer and wet multi-disc parking brake convert high-speed low-torque output from the hydraulic piston motor into low-speed high-torque power for slewing. The normally closed brake locks the structure without pilot pressure, preventing unexpected rotation and securing the hydraulic system under static parking conditions.
3. Working Principle
High-pressure oil delivered by the hydraulic system enters the distribution zone of the hydraulic piston motor, driving pistons to reciprocate along the swash plate and rotate the cylinder block and main shaft. The torque is amplified by the planetary reducer to drive upper-structure slewing. Integrated valves suppress pressure surges during direction switching, improving the smoothness of the whole hydraulic system. The brake engages automatically once pilot pressure is cut off to fix the position steadily.
4. Model Code & Technical Specifications
Code Explanation
- MSG: Series code of Kawasaki slewing hydraulic motor for compact excavators
- 27: Displacement code with a theoretical displacement of around 27 mL/r
- P: Upgraded variant with reinforced valve plate wear resistance and higher brake pressure resistance for heavy-duty hydraulic system applications
Key Parameters
- Theoretical displacement: approx. 27 mL/r
- Continuous working pressure: 21~25 MPa; peak shock pressure: up to 32 MPa, matching standard pressure grades of small excavator hydraulic system
- Max input speed of the hydraulic piston motor: 3000 rpm; final slewing speed: 8~15 rpm
- Pilot pressure for brake release: 1.8~2.5 MPa
- Recommended fluid: No.46 anti-wear hydraulic oil; operating temperature: -10℃~80℃; oil cleanliness ≥ ISO 16/13 to reduce abrasion inside the hydraulic system
5. Core Advantages
1. Premium hydraulic piston motor design maintains high volumetric efficiency and low internal leakage, keeping consistent pressure and linear control performance of the hydraulic system in long-term operation.
2. Built-in buffer valves reduce slewing vibration, relieve fatigue of pipeline components and extend the service life of the entire hydraulic system.
3. Sealed wet brake resists dust and contamination, providing reliable locking on slopes and avoiding reverse slippage of the hydraulic motor.
4. Modular all-in-one structure combining hydraulic piston motor, reducer and brake enables plug-and-play replacement and fits original mounting interfaces of the existing hydraulic system.
5. Symmetric forward & reverse performance delivers consistent left-right slewing motion and optimizes control experience of the whole hydraulic system.
6. Applicable Models
It is widely used in 6–8 ton mini excavators from Kubota, Yanmar, Yuchai, Sany, XCMG and other mainstream brands, acting as a universal replacement hydraulic motor for their slewing hydraulic system.
