LG855 Bucket Tooth Operation Manual

1. Bucket Tooth Product Introduction

1. Applicable Model

This bucket tooth is specially designed for SDLG LG855 series 5-ton wheel loaders, matching the original tooth seat part No. 4190003972 with side pin locking structure. A standard bucket is equipped with 5 main bucket teeth plus 2 side teeth.

2. Excavator Bucket Teeth Product Types & Applicable Working Conditions

1. Standard Earthmoving Bucket Tooth

Suitable for loess, sand, raw coal, construction waste and other soft materials, with moderate penetration and smooth loading; widely used at construction sites, coal yards and aggregate stockyards for daily operation.

2. Reinforced Rock Bucket Tooth

Adopts thickened tooth body made of high wear-resistant alloy steel, applicable for crushed stone, weathered rock, concrete fragments, mine stone and other high-abrasion scenarios. It delivers 40% longer service life with improved impact resistance.

3. Extended Point Bucket Tooth

Features elongated tooth tip to reduce cutting resistance, dedicated for frozen soil and caked mineral material excavation.

2. Installation & Removal Specifications

2.1 Pre-installation Preparation

1. Safety setup: Lower and rest the bucket on the ground, engage handbrake, chock the bucket bottom with timber blocks to prevent accidental bucket descent and crushing hazards;

2. Required tools: Sledgehammer, drift punch, wire brush, rust penetrant, original lock pins and retaining circlips;

3. Parts inspection: Check bucket teeth and tooth seats for cracks or deformation; clear soil, rust and welding slag inside tooth seat cavities, otherwise uneven stress and tooth cracking will occur during operation.

2.2 Standard Installation Procedures

1. Fit the bucket tooth fully onto the tooth seat, ensure tight contact without tilting or misalignment;

2. Mount retaining circlips, align pin holes of tooth seat and bucket tooth;

3. Drive in the locking pin from one side until the pin fully penetrates with no protruding segment;

4. Shake each installed tooth manually to verify zero clearance, then install remaining teeth in sequence;

5. Run no-load operation for 5 minutes with repeated bucket curling, recheck all lock pins for tightness.

2.3 Removal Procedures

1. Rest and chock the bucket, apply rust penetrant to lock pin tail and wait for 5 minutes;

2. Place drift punch against pin end, strike steadily with sledgehammer to drive out lock pin and circlip completely;

3. Pry off worn bucket tooth, meanwhile inspect tooth seat for wear and cracking;

4. Replace tooth seat immediately if thinning, cracks or deformation occurs; do not reuse defective tooth seats.

Installation Prohibitions

1. Never strike tooth tip violently, which may cause concealed internal cracks and tooth fracture in service;

2. Never operate with incompletely seated pins or missing circlips, loose bucket teeth may fall off and trigger safety accidents during loading;

3. Do not mix bucket teeth of different materials or models, uneven stress will accelerate part failure.

3. Operation Guidelines

3.1 Standard Loading Operation

1. Keep bucket teeth parallel to ground before digging, cut into material pile at low speed vertically; avoid oblique side sliding digging;

2. When digging resistance is high, curl the bucket slightly and lift boom gently; do not rev engine aggressively to force penetration;

3. Prevent hard impacts of bucket teeth against ground, boulders and truck bed during discharging and stockpiling to reduce impact wear.

3.2 Operation Tips for Typical Scenarios

• Earthwork / Coal Yard: Maintain steady, even digging to reduce frequent impacts; use standard teeth.

• Quarry & Mine: Adopt multiple shallow digging passes instead of single deep forced digging; reinforced rock teeth are mandatory.

• Frozen Soil / Caked Material: Use extended point teeth to break material layer by layer at low speed; never pry large hard blocks with bucket teeth forcibly.

3.3 Forbidden Operations

1. Do not use bucket teeth to pry steel rebars, huge boulders or concrete foundations, which will cause tooth fracture and tooth seat tearing;

2. Avoid long-term unilateral tooth loading, it will deform the bucket and wear side teeth prematurely;

3. Replace teeth when wear loss reaches half of original height; severely worn teeth will damage costly tooth seats and bucket cutting edges.

4. Inspection & Routine Maintenance

4.1 Pre-shift Check (Before daily work)

1. Visually inspect all bucket teeth for fracture, missing pieces and severe uneven wear;

2. Check lock pins and circlips: no looseness, displacement or dropout;

3. Clear soil trapped between bucket teeth and tooth seats.

4.2 Periodic Maintenance Schedule

1. Daily: Clean sand and soil from gaps between teeth and seats after work to minimize abrasive wear;

2. Weekly: Tap all lock pins to confirm fastening, retighten loose pins;

3. Every two weeks: Swap side teeth and middle teeth (side teeth wear 30% faster) to equalize abrasion and lower procurement cost;

4. Long-term storage: Remove rust on teeth and apply anti-rust grease to pin holes.

4.3 Replacement Criteria (Replace when any condition is met)

1. Tooth height wears down by ≥1/3, tooth tip blunted with poor cutting performance;

2. Tooth body has cracks, notches or chipped segments;

3. Lock pins keep loosening and circlips fail to secure teeth;

4. Tooth seat cavity is thinned or deformed with excessive assembly clearance.

5. Safety Notices

1. Maintenance staff shall wear safety helmet, impact-resistant goggles and anti-slip work gloves during tooth fitting/removal to avoid injury from flying metal chips;

2. No personnel shall stay inside the cab during bucket maintenance; shut down power supply and assign dedicated on-site supervisor;

3. Bystanders shall stay clear of bucket swing radius, never stand in front of bucket teeth during loading;

4. Collect scrapped teeth centrally; cover sharp broken edges to prevent cuts;

5. Ensure sufficient lighting for night maintenance; do not perform fitting/removal work in dim environment.

6. Common Troubleshooting

1. Frequent loose teeth: Missing circlip or worn tooth seat cavity; fit new circlip or replace tooth seat.

2. Easy tooth fracture: Improper tooth selection (earth teeth used for rock work) or violent prying operation; switch to reinforced rock teeth and standardize digging motions.

3. Excessively fast wear: Neglected tooth position swap or high stone content in materials; increase inspection and rotation frequency of teeth.

4. Seized pins unable to remove: Long-term corrosion by soil; apply rust penetrant and wait before removal, never heat tooth seat with open flame.

7. Storage Requirements

1. Stock spare teeth in dry, ventilated warehouse; avoid outdoor rain exposure and rusting;

2. Separate earthmoving teeth and rock teeth with LG855 marking to prevent misapplication;

3. Store lock pins and circlips in sealed containers to avoid loss.
