Butyl Tape Adhesion After Water Immersion: A Real-Site Test from Zhuheng

The test We bonded two Zhuheng butyl waterproof tapes — the aluminum foil version and the fluorocarbon PO film version — onto a window frame substrate and fully submerged them in water for an extended period. After soaking, we peeled both tapes back to inspect the adhesive bond. The result The adhesive layer remained firmly bonded to the substrate on both tapes. There was no detachment from the base layer, and the bond strength was still very high. The tapes did exactly what a sealing tape on a window frame is supposed to do: stay glued, even after prolonged wet exposure. Why this matters Window and door sealing failures almost always start at the tape joint — water gets in, the adhesive softens, the seal breaks. Choosing a butyl tape that holds its bond under real wet conditions is the simplest way to reduce call-backs and rework on façade and window installations.
