Absorb Axial Thrust: Installed at the pinion gear face inside the gearcase, the 3-piece design (two washers sandwiching a needle roller & cage assembly) absorbs axial thrust from propeller rotation, limits pinion axial play and maintains correct bevel gear mesh clearance.
