Glass Installation robot WSR-800LA Operation

The WSR-800L and the WSR-800LA are the two 800kg wheel-type glass vacuum lifters in the same Cowest series, and they are built on the same working idea: 4600mm of lifting height, 650mm + 500mm of arm extension, 360° endless rotating, 0-180° tilting, ±50mm side shifting, dual pumps and dual vacuum circuits, 4kW driving on a 24V motor on the front wheel, 12% uphill capability and 6-8 working hours per charge. They are not a cheap version and a better version of the same thing. They are two answers to two different glass installation problems, and the published difference between them comes down to five points: how much the machine still holds with the boom fully extended, whether driving and steering are remote controlled, whether the suction frame can shift up and down, how far the frame can turn to each side, and what the suction cups are.

Choose the WSR-800L when the panels are wide, oversize or awkward and the job is decided at full reach. It holds 650kg with the second boom extended and still 500kg with the third, and it grips on six Dia.400mm round aluminium cups with high-flexible sealing rings and buffer springs, spread across a 2072 × 1805mm cross beam, so a big panel is held over its whole width instead of at two points. Choose the WSR-800LA when the work is a large rectangular panel that has to be set into an opening accurately, in a confined or finished space. It adds 90° side turning on both sides instead of one side only, ±75mm of up-and-down frame shifting, and full remote driving with the working parameters visible on the controller, on two 500 × 800mm rectangular aluminium cups with easy-change lips. Both machines are supplied as complete units with charger and remote control, and both carry the same 1-year warranty including the battery.

 

 

 

1. The load curve is published for both machines, so the capacity is read rather than believed. Three curves are supplied with each model: 800kg, 650kg and 500kg on the WSR-800L, and 800kg, 500kg and 300kg on the WSR-800LA. Send us your panel weight, the panel dimensions and the reach you need, and we will read the rating off the curve and record a video of the machine handling a panel of that specification before shipment.

2. The single most useful difference: 500kg at full extension on the WSR-800L. With both booms out, the WSR-800L still holds 500kg where the WSR-800LA holds 300kg. On large-panel work the machine spends most of its life at or near full reach, so this one number decides more jobs than any other figure on the specification sheet.

3. Six round glass suction cups against two long-format cups, and the panel decides which is right. The six Dia.400mm glass suction cups of the WSR-800L spread over a 2072× 1805mm beam, so a wide or oversize panel is gripped across its whole width and each cup takes up its own share of the load through its buffer spring. The two 500× 800mm rectangular glass suction cups of the WSR-800LA put the whole load on two long contact areas, which is the better answer for a single large rectangular panel. Both sets of glass suction cups are fitted as standard with the machine rather than sold separately, both run on the same dual pumps and dual vacuum circuits, and both are aluminium. Send us the panel dimensions and we will tell you honestly which configuration is correct, including telling you when the other model is the better buy. If your panel is 10.12mm laminated or thicker, coated, or a low-emissivity unit, tell us the build-up as well, because the cup lip and the vacuum level both have to suit the surface.

4. 180° symmetrical side turning and ±75mm up-and-down shifting on the WSR-800LA. A frame that turns 90° to each side, and moves 75mm up or down as well as 50mm sideways, lets one operator set a panel square in the opening without a second person guiding it. The WSR-800L turns 90° left and 15° right, 105° in total, which is the right answer on a straight run and the wrong answer where the machine has to work symmetrically into an opening.

5. Full remote driving on the WSR-800LA. The chassis is driven and steered from the same handset as the load, and the working parameters stay visible on the controller, so the operator stands at the load instead of walking behind the machine. On the WSR-800L, driving and steering are taken from the control handle while every movement on the load side is remote, which keeps a pendant out of the working path but means the machine is walked to position.

6. Dual pumps and dual vacuum circuits on both machines, so the vacuum is generated and monitored on two circuits rather than one and the loss of a circuit is a service item rather than a dropped panel. Low vacuum on the WSR-800L raises both a light and an acoustic alert. Both machines are supplied as a suction cup lifter complete with its glass suction cups, hose, pump and charger, so the machine arrives ready to lift rather than needing a separate accessory order before the first panel.

7. 12% uphill capability, 4600mm of lifting height and 6-8 working hours per charge on both machines, so a full working day of panels is handled from one charge and a site ramp does not need a separate crane.

8. 1925kg for the WSR-800L and 2190kg for the WSR-800LA, both wheel-type and both moved by one operator. Parts are most common hardware parts, so they can be bought locally from a hardware or forklift parts supplier rather than shipped from us, and if a machine does break down we guide the repair by video and repair instruction.

Both are supplied as complete units with charger and remote control, backed by a 1-year warranty including the battery, wheels not included. 1. What is the difference between the WSR-800L and the WSR-800LA?
Five published points. Load at extension: 650kg and 500kg on the WSR-800L against 500kg and 300kg on the WSR-800LA. Driving and steering: control handle on the WSR-800L, wireless remote on the WSR-800LA. Up-and-down frame shifting: not fitted on the WSR-800L, ±75mm on the WSR-800LA. Side turning: 90° left plus 15° right on the WSR-800L, 90° on both sides on the WSR-800LA. Suction cups: six Dia.400mm round on the WSR-800L, two 500 × 800mm rectangular on the WSR-800LA.

2. Which model should I buy?
If your panels are wide or oversize, or the panel has to be carried out close to full reach, take the WSR-800L, because 500kg at full extension and six round cups over a 2072mm beam are what make a big heavy panel manageable. If your panels are large single rectangles and the work is setting them into openings accurately in a confined or finished space, take the WSR-800LA, because 180° symmetrical side turning, ±75mm up-and-down shifting and remote driving are what let one operator do it alone. 3. Is the WSR-800LA simply a better version of the WSR-800L?
No. The WSR-800LA is heavier at 2190kg against 1925kg, carries larger batteries at 190Ah against 150Ah, and holds less weight at the same extension, 300kg against 500kg at third-ram extension. It buys frame articulation and remote driving, and it pays for them in capacity at reach and in self weight. Which one is right depends entirely on your panel size and your working space.

4. How much glass can each machine lift?
Both are rated 800kg and both reach 4600mm of lifting height with 650mm + 500mm of extension. The maximum load accords the length of the extended arm, and three load curves are published with each machine: 800kg, 650kg and 500kg for the WSR-800L, and 800kg, 500kg and 300kg for the WSR-800LA. 5. What happens if a cup loses vacuum, what cups does it take, and what is the warranty?
Both machines are supplied as complete suction cup lifters, with the glass suction cups already fitted: six Dia.400mm round cups on the WSR-800L, two 500× 800mm rectangular cups on the WSR-800LA. Both are aluminium, both run on dual pumps and dual vacuum circuits, and both are supplied with hose, pump and charger, so nothing has to be ordered separately before the first lift. If a cup loses vacuum the loss is a service item rather than a dropped panel, and on the WSR-800L a light and an acoustic alert is raised. The machines use most common hardware parts, so parts can be bought locally from a hardware or forklift parts supplier rather than shipped from us, and if a machine does break down we guide the repair by video and repair instruction. One year quality guarantee including the battery, wheels not included; if it breaks down within one year we send the parts free of charge. The battery life span is up to 2 years if maintained according to our maintenance manual.
