Rare earth magnesium silicon iron alloy is an alloy made by melting and blending silicon iron, calcium, magnesium, rare earths, etc. It is a good spheroidizing agent with strong deoxidation and desulfurization effects. The production of rare earth magnesium ferrosilicon alloy is carried out in a submerged arc furnace, which consumes a lot of electricity and can also be produced using a medium frequency furnace.

What are the advantages of rare earth magnesium silicon iron alloy:
1. Strong spheroidization ability reduces the residual magnesium required for graphite spheroidization, and can handle sub crystalline and hypereutectic components, as well as iron with high sulfur content and slightly lower temperature, reducing the harmful effects of rare earth magnesium spheroidizing agents on spheroidizing elements. It is a widely applicable spheroidizing agent for the production of ductile iron pipes and is suitable for the current melting conditions in China.
2. The kinetics of spheroidization reaction are good, and the reaction is relatively stable. The performance of the treatment process using the flushing method is good.
3. Improve the casting performance of ductile iron, increase its flowability by 40% compared to magnesium ductile iron, reduce the formation temperature of rare earth magnesium spheroidizing agent oxide film by about 50 ℃, reduce the pre shrinkage expansion value by 0.3-0.4%, and reduce casting defects such as shrinkage porosity, slag inclusion, subcutaneous porosity, and cold shut.
4. Due to the purification of molten iron and the dispersion alloying effect of rare earths, casting defects are reduced, thereby improving the mechanical properties of ductile iron. Compared with magnesium ductile iron, the tensile strength, elongation, and impact toughness of rare earth magnesium ductile iron are generally increased by 10%.
5. Rare earth magnesium spheroidizing agents containing yttrium also have certain resistance to spheroidization decay.
