Tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB) CAS: 71-91-0 is a quaternary ammonium salt with the formula [N (C2H5) 4]+Br -. In chemical literature, it is often abbreviated as [Et4N]+Br -. In pharmacological and physiological research, it is not only used as a source of tetraethylammonium ions, but also in organic chemical synthesis. The crystal structure of Tetraethyl Ammonium Bromide (TEAB) has been determined, and it has been found that in the tetraethylammonium cation, the geometric shape of the carbon atoms around the central nitrogen atom exhibits distorted tetrahedral symmetry. The toxicity of tetraethylammonium bromide (TEAB) mainly comes from the tetraethylammonium ion, which has been extensively studied. In the data from Randall and colleagues' study, the acute toxicity of TEAB was comparable to that of tetraethylammonium chloride and tetraethylammonium iodide. Mouse LD 50: intravenous injection: 38 mg/kg; Intraperitoneal administration: 60mg/kg; Oral administration:>2000 milligrams per kilogram.
