What is podophyllum resin？

Podophyllum resin of herbal extract is a resin-like substance extracted from the rhizomes of podophyllum (mainly plants such as Podophyllum japonicum), mainly from Podophyllum japonicum of the Berberidaceae family. The main component of podophyllum resin is podophyllotoxin, which is a lignan compound.

What is podophyllum resin used for?

Podophyllum is used to remove benign (not cancer) growths, such as certain kinds of warts. It works by destroying the tissue of the growth. Podophyllum resin of plant extract is a mixture of resins from the mandrake (Podophyllum peltatum Linné), a perennial plant of the northern and middle United States. It is made exclusively from American podophyllin, which has a lower level of podophyllotoxin than the Indian resin.

Can podophyllin cream remove warts?

Podophyllin is a treatment that destroys the wart tissue. A doctor or nurse applies the solution directly to the wart(s) with a cotton swab, and you should wash the area one to four hours later. The treatment is repeated weekly for four to six weeks, or until the lesions have cleared.
