Cold rolling screw thread is a process that makes metal undergo plastic deformation through pressure processing at room temperature to form screw threads. It is based on the principle of metal plastic deformation. When metal is subjected to external forces exceeding its yield strength, metal atoms will slip and rearrange. When cold rolling screw threads, two (or more) rolls with thread profiles are used to apply sufficient pressure on the surface of the screw blank so that the metal on the surface of the blank flows along the thread profile of the rolls and gradually forms the thread shape.
