Reflex level gauge glass

Reflex level gauge glass is made from High Borosilicate, They are used in level gauge in boiler for water position. Reflex type one side facing the medium chamber is provided with molded grooves set at 90° angles. The molding process increases the resistance of the glass grooves to wear; the skin which the glass attains during molding gives it maximum smoothness and hardness.This makes it extremely resistant to the attack of boiler water.

With gasket protection, it can be used with all media at operating conditions up to 4MPa and temperatures up to 400 °C.

A reflex gauge glass is a type of level indicator used in industrial applications to measure the liquid level inside a tank or vessel. It consists of a reflex gauge glass with a series of prisms or grooves on the inside surface.

Here's how it works:

1. Installation: The reflex gauge glass is installed vertically on the side of the tank or vessel. It is connected to the tank through two isolation valves, one at the top and one at the bottom.

2. Liquid filling: The liquid inside the tank fills the gauge glass through the bottom isolation valve. The liquid level inside the gauge glass will be the same as the liquid level in the tank.

3. Observation: The operator can observe the liquid level by looking at the gauge glass. The liquid level is indicated by the interface between the liquid and the gas (usually air) above it.

4. Reflex principle: The prisms or grooves on the inside surface of the gauge glass act as mirrors. When the liquid is present, the prisms or grooves reflect the light and appear dark. When there is no liquid, the prisms or grooves allow the light to pass through and appear bright.

5. Reading the level: The liquid level is determined by observing the interface between the dark and bright sections of the gauge glass. The operator can read the level by aligning the interface with a scale or reference point on the gauge glass.

6. Maintenance: Regular maintenance is required to ensure the gauge glass is clean and free from any deposits or contaminants that may hinder the visibility of the liquid level. Cleaning can be done using appropriate cleaning agents and tools.

It's important to note that reflex gauge glass is suitable for measuring clear or transparent liquids. If the liquid is opaque or contains solids, an alternative type of level indicator, such as a magnetic level gauge or ultrasonic level sensor, may be more suitable.
