Polyacrylic Acid (PAA), with the CAS No. 9003-01-4 is a water-soluble polymer, also known as acrylic acid homopolymer, with the chemical formula [C3H4O2] n, and exhibits weak acidity. Polyacrylic acid is synthesized by polymerizing acrylic monomers in aqueous solution using persulfate as an initiator.

PAA (polyacrylic acid) is a colorless or pale yellow liquid. It can form stable compounds with metal ions, calcium, magnesium, etc., and has excellent decomposition effects on calcium carbonate and calcium hydroxide in water. The molecular weight of this product used for water treatment is generally between 2000-5000, and it is miscible with water, soluble in ethanol, isopropanol, etc. It is weakly acidic with a pKa of 4.75. Easy to decompose above 300 ℃.

PAA cas:9003-01-4 is an efficient scale inhibitor that can effectively prevent the crystallization and deposition of metal ions such as calcium and magnesium in water. These metal ions are prone to form scale in water, which affects the heat exchange efficiency of equipment and the flow of water. PAA forms stable complexes with these metal ions through chelation, thereby preventing them from combining with anions such as carbonate and sulfate ions to form precipitates. This characteristic has made PAA widely used in cooling water systems, boiler water systems, and pre-treatment before reverse osmosis membranes.
