According to different process requirements and heat exchange methods, heating shell and tube heat exchanger and cooling shell and tube heat exchanger can be further classified. Common classification methods include:

1. Single-phase flow heat exchangers and multiphase flow heat exchangers: In single-phase flow heat exchangers, the heating or cooling medium is a single liquid or gas; In a multiphase flow heat exchanger, the heating or cooling medium is a mixture of various substances in different phases, such as liquid and gas.

2. Parallel flow heat exchanger and counter flow heat exchanger: In a parallel flow heat exchanger, the heating medium and the heated medium flow in the same direction during the heat transfer process; In a countercurrent heat exchanger, the heating medium and the heated medium flow in opposite directions during the heat exchange process.

3. Fluid inside and outside the tube: Fluid inside the tube refers to the flow of heating or cooling media inside the heat exchanger; External fluid refers to the flow of heating or cooling media outside the heat exchanger.

Evaporative shell and tube heat exchanger is a commonly used heat exchange equipment, mainly used to evaporate liquid into steam or condense steam into liquid.

1. Evaporation: The evaporative shell and tube heat exchanger can heat the liquid through the heat exchange tube inside the pipeline, causing it to evaporate into steam. During the evaporation process, the liquid absorbs heat, causing the temperature of the liquid to rise and reach the desired evaporation temperature.

2. Condensation: The evaporative shell and tube heat exchanger can also cool the steam through the heat exchange tube inside the pipeline, causing it to condense into a liquid. During the condensation process, steam releases heat, which lowers the temperature of the steam and converts it into a liquid.
