UHMW Polyethylene Sheet is easy to cut and drill but the high thermal expansion coefficient must be considered during installation. For UHMWPE liners in large silos or chutes we recommend the “slotted hole” method of fastening. This lets the sheet expand and contract with changes in temperature without buckling. For precision machining, use sharp high speed steel (HSS) tools with high clearance angles so that the material will not melt or “gum” the tool edge.
