Where is it used in practice?

Handling semiconductors :

Wafer carriers and cleanroom fixtures need a material that is particle-free. It must not react with cleanroom chemicals.

Cutting boards Machining

Sheet stock is rarely exactly right for a job. AHD has its own CNC and saw cutting equipment.

It cuts high density polyethylene sheets to size. It drills or profiles them before they leave the factory. Less steps for the buyer, less waiting on a second vendor.

We deliver sample requests quickly, usually within a few days. We cut on-site, so we do not use a subcontractor. We stock sheets in common HDPE dimensions for bulk orders, so you can get large quantities without waiting for a production run. Full pallet orders and small-batch prototypes run through the same shop floor, side-by-side, without one holding up the other.

Testing of Homogeneity

Not all HDPE Sheet on the market is created equal. AHD Polymer make some sheets from high density polyethylene plasticresin, which later causes warping or brittle spots. Before production, AHD tests incoming resin for density and melt flow. They check flatness and thickness tolerance on the finished sheet before it leaves the shop.

HDPE500 refers to a higher molecular weight grade. It holds tighter tolerances and resists wear better than standard extrusion-grade HDPE.

Q: How thick can a single sheet be machined?

A: Sheets up to 100mm thick machine well on standard CNC setups. Thicker custom blocks are possible but need a longer lead time.


Q: Does this material need special tooling to cut?

A: Standard carbide tooling works fine for virgin HDPE500. Glass-fiber and carbon-fiber filled grades wear tooling faster and may need coated bits.
