Botanical Characteristics:
Suan Zao Ren is the dried ripe seed of the wild jujube tree, native to China and parts of East Asia. The seeds are oval, reddish-brown, and oily, with a mild, slightly sweet-bitter flavor. In TCM, they are usually stir-fried before use to enhance their calming properties.
