Polygala Root (Radix Polygalae)

Overview:
Polygala Root, known as Yuan Zhi in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is the dried root of Polygala tenuifolia or Polygala sibirica. It has been used for centuries in Chinese herbal formulas to calm the mind, enhance memory, and dissolve phlegm. Revered as a brain tonic, it is particularly valued for supporting emotional balance and cognitive function.

Botanical Characteristics:
Polygala is a perennial herb native to China and parts of East Asia. Its roots are harvested in autumn, then cleaned and dried for medicinal use. The plant thrives in mountainous and grassy regions.
