High Purity Polyoxymethylene POM Rods
POM rod (Polyoxymethylene Rod) is a thermoplastic engineering plastic rod made of polyoxymethylene (POM) resin through extrusion process. It is known as "Super Steel" because it has strength, rigidity, wear resistance and dimensional stability comparable to metal, while also having the lightweight and easy processing properties of plastic. It is widely used in the fields of automobiles, electronics, precision machinery, medical equipment, etc.
With its "super steel" characteristics (high strength, high rigidity, high wear resistance) and processing flexibility (easy to machine, no moisture absorption and deformation), POM rods have become the preferred material for metal replacement in the fields of precision machinery, automobiles, electronics, etc. Through formula modification (such as glass fiber reinforcement, flame retardant, antistatic) and processing technology optimization (such as precision turning, injection molding), it continues to expand high-end application scenarios. Driven by the demand for lightweight, high precision and long life, the market demand has grown steadily.
POM rod is a highly crystalline thermoplastic engineering plastic rod. Its base resin is polymerized from formaldehyde (homopolymer POM-H or copolymer POM-C), and is formed into a rod-shaped material by extrusion process:
- Homopolymer (POM-H): higher crystallinity (>75%), better strength, rigidity, and heat resistance, but slightly worse impact resistance and processing fluidity;
- Copolymer (POM-C): by introducing comonomers (such as ethylene oxide) to adjust the molecular chain structure, the impact resistance and processing fluidity are better, but the strength and heat resistance are slightly lower than homopolymer.
