The manufacturing process of PVC foam board
2 week agoMain Processing Methods for PVC Foam Board:
Cutting: For small batches or simple shapes, a utility knife can be used to score and snap the board. For mass production or complex shapes, engraving machines or electric saws are used to achieve fast and clean cuts.
Engraving: Simple designs can be hand-carved with a handheld engraving tool, while finer work—such as advertising lettering or decorative patterns—requires CNC engraving machines.
Gluing: PVC foam boards are lightweight and do not require strong adhesives. Common options include hot melt glue, silicone sealant, or specialized foam adhesive. For example, when bonding two boards to form a box or attaching them to walls or other materials, the adhesive becomes strong once dried and does not damage the board.
Sanding: After cutting or engraving, the edges may be rough. Sanding with sandpaper smooths out the edges and corners, sometimes creating slight curves for a more refined look and preventing sharp edges.
Bending / Shaping: PVC foam boards have some flexibility. To create curved or U-shaped forms, two methods are used:
Heat Bending: A heat gun is applied to the area to be bent until it softens, then it is shaped by hand and holds its form once cooled.
Slot Bending: For larger curves that may cause cracking, thin slots are cut into the board’s side, allowing it to bend gradually. The slots are then glued to maintain the curved shape.
