PPGI stands for pre-painted galvanized iron (also known as pre-coated steel, coil-coated steel, or color-coated steel), typically with a hot-dip galvanized steel substrate. The term is an extension of GI, the traditional abbreviation for galvanized iron. Today, the term GI often refers to essentially pure, continuous hot-dip galvanized steel, as opposed to the batch-dip process. PPGI refers to factory-prepainted galvanized steel, where the steel is painted before forming, as opposed to post-painting after forming. In the construction field, it is suitable for buildings with high requirements for corrosion resistance, such as buildings in coastal areas and chemical plants; in the automotive industry, it can be used to manufacture automobile body structural parts, engine hoods, etc.; in the solar water heater industry, it is often used as the inner tank and outer shell material of water heaters.
