Four-point contact ball bearings are a special category of rolling bearings that combine space efficiency and composite load-bearing capacity. The core feature is that the inner and outer ring raceways adopt a double arc design, so that the steel balls and the raceways form four contact points. A single set of bearings can simultaneously bear two-way axial load and radial load, without the need for multiple sets of bearing combinations. From a structural point of view, this type of bearing consists of four core components: "outer ring + inner ring + steel ball + cage". The key innovation lies in the raceway design: both the inner and outer ring raceways are symmetrical double arc grooves, and the arc radius and steel ball diameter are precisely calculated (usually the arc radius is 1.05-1.1 times the steel ball diameter) to ensure When bearing axial load, the steel ball can fit with the upper and lower arc surfaces of the inner and outer ring raceways respectively, forming four force contact points - when bearing positive axial force, the steel ball contacts the upper raceway of the inner ring and the lower raceway of the outer ring; when bearing reverse axial force, it contacts the lower raceway of the inner ring and the upper raceway of the outer ring, thus achieving bidirectional axial load. The cage is mostly made of brass (suitable for high-speed and high-temperature scenarios, such as machine tool spindles) or reinforced nylon (suitable for low-noise, lightweight requirements, such as precision instruments). Some high-end models are equipped with ceramic rolling elements to further reduce the friction coefficient and heat generation. Depending on the protection requirements, a dust cover (ZZ type) or sealing ring (2RS type) can be installed.
