Sodium isostearoyl lactylate is a colorless to pale yellow viscous liquid. It is derived from natural fatty acids and lactic acid. It is an anionic surfactants. When isostearic acid in vegetable oil reacts with lactic acid and neutralizes it to form a sodium salt, it is formed. As a plant based surfactant and biodegradable surfactant, it has good biodegradability and mildness, and is mostly used in hair care and skin care products. It can provide emulsifying and conditioning effects, and also make the formula mild and safe.

The role of Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylate

Sodium Isostearoyl Lactylate is an anionic detergent. In product formulations, it acts as an emulsifier and auxiliary surfactant, reducing the interfacial tension between oil and water, allowing the oil and water phases to disperse evenly and form a stable system.
