Blue POM Sheet (Polyoxymethylene Sheet) is a highly crystalline thermoplastic engineering plastic sheet made from POM resin through extrusion molding. It boasts excellent core properties and a unique color advantage.
 
Its mechanical properties are outstanding, with high rigidity and strength, approaching that of some metals. It exhibits excellent creep resistance and wear resistance, a low coefficient of dynamic friction, and self-lubricating properties, allowing for long-term stable operation without additional lubrication. Its wear rate is significantly lower than similar engineering plastics.
 
Its dimensional stability is excellent, with virtually zero water absorption. Even in humid environments or under fluctuating temperatures (-50℃ to 100℃), it does not easily expand or deform, making it suitable for precision machining requirements. It has good chemical stability, tolerating most non-polar solvents, dilute acids, and dilute alkalis. It exhibits excellent hydrolysis resistance, requiring only avoidance of strong corrosive media such as concentrated acids and strong oxidants. Its processing performance is excellent; it can be machined into complex precision parts using conventional machining methods such as milling and drilling, resulting in smooth surfaces and high precision.

1. Common Processing Methods
 
Cutting Processes (Turning, Milling, Drilling)
 
Suitable for manufacturing gears, sliders, bushings, and precision structural parts.
Air cooling or a small amount of cutting fluid is recommended during processing to keep the tool and sheet material at a low temperature and prevent thermal deformation.
 
Cutting Processes
 
Thin sheets can be cut using precision panel saws or laser cutting (pay attention to power control to avoid yellowing or charring of edges).
For thick sheets, band saws and circular saws are preferred, as they provide stable cutting, smooth cut surfaces, and are less prone to chipping.
 
Drilling and Tapping
 
High-speed steel drill bits are recommended for drilling, as they ensure smooth chip removal and reduce burr formation.
For tapping, pre-drilling pilot holes is recommended. POM has high strength and good toughness, resulting in full thread formation and reducing the likelihood of cracking.
 
Bonding and Welding
 
Special POM adhesives can be used, or hot air welding and hot plate welding can be employed. The strength is close to that of the POM itself, making it suitable for structural splicing and sealing component fabrication.

2. Processing Precautions:
 
POM does not absorb water and does not require drying before processing; it can be directly applied to the machine.
 
Avoid prolonged high-speed friction to prevent heat generation and slight softening of the material, as well as dimensional deviations.
 
After processing, the dimensions are stable and it is not prone to springback, making it suitable for precision assembly.
 
The blue color is uniform throughout; the cross-section remains a uniform blue after processing, without whitening or exposed substrate.
