Exterior Coating: The transformer tank, cover, and oil conservator undergo sandblasting or shot-blasting before applying a two-layer epoxy primer. The final coating consists of a durable two-layer polyurethane paint, ensuring a total thickness exceeding 180 µm.
Interior Coating: The inside of the tank is treated with a two-layer epoxy primer, achieving a thickness of around 30 µm to protect against corrosion.
Radiator Coating: External radiator surfaces are hot-dip galvanized, providing a protective layer of at least 60 µm.
Conservator Tank Design:
Mounting: Positioned above the main tank and tap changer tank to prevent air or gas accumulation beneath the main cover.
Capacity: Sized to accommodate oil expansion and contraction under operational conditions.
Features:
A bolted end plate for internal maintenance.
Filling cap, drain valve with a secure cap, and an oil level indicator.
Valves to isolate oil flow between the transformer and tap changer tanks.
An oil-resistant internal coating and a silica gel breather with an oil seal.
A membrane (air bag) to separate oil and air, preventing moisture ingress.
Constructed to endure 35 kPa internal pressure and full vacuum without deformation.
Equipped with lifting lugs for easy handling.
Oil Level Indicator: Clearly displays oil levels at all temperatures, with marked minimum, maximum, and normal levels visible from standard access points.
Valve Arrangement:
The transformer includes the following valves:
Oil filtration valves at the top and bottom of the main tank.
Conservator tank drain and fill valve.
Main tank and OLTC tank drain valves.
Isolation valves between the main tank, conservator, and OLTC tank.
Radiator isolation and drain valves.
Oil sampling ports for the main and OLTC tanks.
Additional valves as required.
Protection Systems:
Buchholz Relay: Installed on oil feed pipes from the conservator to the main and tap changer tanks. Triggers alarms for gas accumulation and trips during oil surges or low levels. Includes a gas release valve.
Oil Temperature Indicator: Monitors peak oil temperature with a resettable dial gauge.
Winding Temperature Indicator: Tracks maximum winding temperature via a resettable dial.
Pressure Relief Device: Mounted on the tank cover for rapid pressure release, maintaining oil integrity and preventing leaks.
On-Load Tap Changer (OLTC):
Type: Vacuum-operated OLTC with 17 positions (±1.25% × 8 steps).
Operation: Adjusts all phases simultaneously under load.
Capacity: Rated for normal and 20% overload currents.
