Yunnan Ancient Tree White Tea Dragon Balls
1. Origin
Tea materials are harvested from the core Mengku area in Shuangjiang, Lincang, Yunnan.
Mengku enjoys high altitude, large temperature difference between day and night, dense forest and persistent mist. Ancient tea trees grow scattered deep in mountains. Their slow growth enables sufficient accumulation of inner substances. Different from Fujian white tea, Yunnan large-leaf ancient tree white tea features distinctive mountain flavor, a unique white tea variety from Southwest China.
2. Raw Materials
We select spring tender leaves from century-old large-leaf ancient tea trees. Only manually picked one bud with one or two leaves are used. No terrace tea blending. Tea gardens are managed ecologically with limited chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Thick large-leaf raw materials are rich in amino acids and tea polyphenols, laying a foundation for full-bodied tea soup.
3. Craftsmanship
We follow the classic white tea rule: no pan-frying, no rolling.
Natural withering: Fresh leaves are spread out to lose moisture gently, removing grassy taste and developing floral and honey aroma.
Sun-drying: Slow natural sunlight drying preserves tea’s original fragrance.
Hand compression: Dried tea is softly steamed and manually pressed into mini dragon balls.
No artificial fermentation or additives. The compressed shape saves space, convenient for transportation and long-term storage.
4. Flavor & Liquor
Dry tea: Well-shaped round dragon balls, muted grey-green color with delicate natural floral scent.
Tea liquor: Pale golden, clear and bright.
Aroma: Dominated by floral fragrance, accompanied by honey sweetness and subtle mountain forest notes.
Taste: Soft, smooth and fresh with almost no bitterness. Pleasant lasting sweet aftertaste in the throat.
Excellent brewing endurance, more than 10 stable infusions. It is also suitable for cold brewing.
5. Brewing Guide
Tea dosage: 1 dragon ball (5–8g)
Water temperature: 90–95℃ pure water
Recommended vessel: Gaiwan or glass pot. Short steeping for the first three infusions, extend brewing time afterwards.
6. Storage Instructions
Keep in dry, shady and ventilated place; avoid dampness, strong odor and direct sunlight.
Store at room temperature, do not refrigerate.
Use kraft paper bags, food-grade aluminum foil bags or clay pots.
Avoid long-term full vacuum sealing. White tea requires slight air circulation for natural aging.
7. Aging & Collection Value
Yunnan large-leaf ancient tree white tea can be aged for years properly.
As time goes by, bright floral aroma turns deeper, honey and jujube aroma emerge gradually, and the tea soup becomes softer and smoother.
Compressed dragon balls age evenly and occupy less storage space, lowering warehousing costs.
Ideal for daily drinking, long-term collection and gift sales, favored by tea wholesalers worldwide.
