June 24, 2022 is a milestone day in the history of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The High-level Dialogue on Global Development was held during the 14th BRICS Leaders' Meeting and reached a number of consensuses. The "replacing plastic with bamboo" initiative proposed by the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization has been included in the list of outcomes of the Global Development High-level Dialogue, and will be jointly initiated by China and the International Bamboo and Rattan Organization to reduce plastic pollution, combat climate change and contribute to global sustainable development.

The theme of this high-level dialogue on global development is "Building a Global Development Partnership in a New Era and Jointly Implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", chaired by President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China, President of the BRICS member Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, and Prime Minister of the Republic of India Modi, President Ramaphosa of the Republic of South Africa, Vice President Mourao of the Federative Republic of Brazil, and 13 invited national leaders attended the event. Leaders at the meeting discussed global development issues of common concern around the theme of the meeting and reached broad consensus.
The growing problem of plastic pollution threatens human health and needs to be completely solved, which has become a consensus of mankind.

According to an assessment report released by the United Nations Environment Programme, of the 9.2 billion tons of plastic products produced in the world, about 7 billion tons have become plastic waste, and the recycling rate of these plastic wastes is less than 10%. Plastic waste not only causes serious harm to terrestrial and marine ecosystems, but also contributes to global climate change. Without effective action measures and alternative products, the safety of human production and life will be greatly threatened.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world. Studies have shown that the maximum growth rate of bamboo is 1.21 meters per 24 hours, and high growth and coarse growth can be completed in 2-3 months. Bamboo matures quickly, and it can become a forest in 3-5 years, and the bamboo shoots grow Hsinchu every year, with high yield, one-time afforestation, and sustainable use. Bamboo is widely distributed and the resource scale is considerable. There are 1,642 known species of bamboo plants in the world, and there are 39 countries with a total bamboo forest area of more than 50 million hectares, with an annual output of more than 600 million tons of bamboo. Among them, China has more than 800 kinds of bamboo plants, with a bamboo forest area of 6.41 million hectares. Bamboo products maintain a low carbon level or even a negative carbon footprint throughout their life cycle. From the perspective of carbon sequestration process, bamboo products have a negative carbon footprint compared with plastic products. Bamboo products can be completely degraded naturally after use, which can better protect the environment and protect human health.

In recent years, "bamboo floor" has always been "cold inside and hot outside" in the market. While selling well in foreign markets, it has been tepid in the domestic market. In the eyes of Chinese people, hardwood flooring is more comfortable and  WPC is more affordable . But what are the facts?
