SKYSIL SS-901 SIO2 POWDER FOR WATER BASED COATING

SS-901 precipitated silica matting agent is a functional additive developed specifically for high-performance water-based coatings. Through

precisely controlled chemical interface characteristics and multi-level pore structure, it breaks through the technical bottleneck of traditional

matting agents in environmentally friendly coatings. Its surface is modified by a special silane coupling agent to form a dynamic charge balance

layer, which significantly improves the interfacial compatibility with water-based acrylic acid, polyurethane and other resins. Even at low addition

levels (1.5-4%), the 60° gloss can still be precisely controlled within the range of 2-8GU, and the matting efficiency is increased by more than

25% compared with conventional products.

The core advantage of this product comes from its unique "core-shell" chemical structure design. The core is high-purity amorphous silica

(SiO₂≥99.8%), and the surface is covered with a dense organic modified layer, which forms a stable three-dimensional network structure

through charge induction. During the film-forming process of water-based paint, SS-901 combines with the resin molecular chain through

hydrogen bonds, adjusts the micro-area tension on the surface of the coating film, and induces the formation of a uniform submicron-level

concave-convex structure (Ra value 0.8-1.5μm), which not only achieves excellent matting effect, but also gives the coating a delicate touch

and anti-fingerprint properties.

Aiming at the polar environment unique to water-based systems, the isoelectric point (IEP) of SS-901 is optimized to pH 4.5-5.5, effectively

avoiding the flocculation problem caused by charge neutralization in alkaline resins. Its multi-level pore structure with a BET specific surface

area of 320-380m²/g can selectively adsorb free polar molecules in the coating, reduce the volume shrinkage stress during the film-forming

process, and improve the water-whitening resistance of the final coating by more than 50%. According to third-party testing, the gloss fluctuation

of water-based wood paint with 3% SS-901 after 48 hours of water immersion is less than 1GU, which is far better than the industry standard.
