Flying shears are essential equipment used in the metallurgical industry for cutting metal plates or sections into specific lengths. They are commonly used in various processes, such as cutting off the head or tail of irregular rolled pieces, or cutting rolled pieces into different lengths according to buyer requirements. Here are some types and features of flying shears used in metallurgical applications:

Rotary Flying Shearing Machine:

Widely used flying shear installed on continuous rolling mills or transverse units.

Can cut steel plates or section steel with a thickness of less than 12mm.

The shear thickness can reach up to 45mm.

The blade of the drum flying shear moves in a simple circular motion, allowing it to cut rolling pieces at speeds up to 15 m/s.

Crank Rotary Lever Flying Shearing Machine:

Used for cutting thick strips or billets.

The blade of this flying shear is usually perpendicular to the rolling piece when cutting, resulting in a smooth shear section.

Inclined blades can be used to reduce shear force when cutting strips.

Suitable for small section steel plants with a speed of less than 5m/s and a thickness of 30-70 shearing pieces.

Crank Eccentric Flying Shearing Machine:

The blades of this flying shear move by translation.

The crankshaft of two arms is hinged in the boring of an eccentric shaft, allowing the blade to move in a shear curve similar to horizontal movement.

Smooth shear sections can be obtained by adjusting the ratio of angular velocities and the radius of the blade track.

Installed behind continuous billet mills for shearing billets.

Pendulum Flying Shears:

Used to cut strips with a thickness less than 6.4mm.

The upper tool holder is articulated with the main crankshaft, while the lower tool rest is connected through eccentric sleeves and connecting rods.

The upper and lower tool holders work in relative motion to complete the shearing action.

Provides better shearing quality due to translational motion in the shear area.
