Magnesium Anode
AZ63 cast magnesium anode is a magnesium alloy material used in sacrificial anode cathodic protection systems. These anodes are widely used in marine engineering, underground pipelines, storage tanks, and other metal structures that require corrosion protection. Sacrificial anode cathodic protection technology is a method of preventing corrosion of the protected metal by sacrificing itself by attaching a more active metal, known as a sacrificial anode, to the protected metal structure. Similarly, Casting Magnesium Alloy Plate and Casting Magnesium Alloy Rod are also made by a casting method. Magnesium anode is made on the basis of Casting Magnesium Alloy Rod.
Classification
AZ63 cast magnesium anode belongs to a kind of magnesium-based sacrificial anode. Magnesium anodes are widely used because of their high negative potential and small self-corrosion rate, especially in soil and fresh water.
Chemical composition
The main components of AZ63 magnesium anodes include magnesium (Mg), but also contain aluminium (Al), zinc (Zn) and other elements. These added elements improve the mechanical and electrochemical properties of magnesium anodes. The exact chemical composition may vary depending on the manufacturer, but usually follows certain standards or specifications.
Product Properties
- Electrochemical Properties: AZ63 magnesium anodes have a high negative potential and provide good electrochemical protection.
- Low self-corrosion rate: Compared to pure magnesium, AZ63 magnesium anode has a lower self-corrosion rate, which means that it is able to maintain its protective effect over a longer period of time.
- Mechanical strength: Appropriate added elements such as aluminium can increase the mechanical strength of magnesium anodes, making them more suitable for certain applications.
Applications
- Marine engineering: used for anti-corrosion protection of marine structures such as ship hulls and offshore platforms.
- Underground pipelines and storage tanks: used to protect underground or underwater pipelines and storage tanks from corrosion.
- Other applications: also includes bridges, wharves, industrial equipment and other areas that require anti-corrosion protection.
Overall, AZ63 cast magnesium anode is an efficient and economical solution for corrosion prevention, especially suitable for application scenarios that require sacrificial anode cathodic protection.
