SKYSIL SL-680 SILICA MATTING AGENT FOR COIL COATING

SL-680 precipitated silica matting agent (SKYSIL® series) is a core breakthrough with a large particle size distribution (D50) of 5.5-6.0μm

and a high porosity structure (1.8-2.0ml/g), and is specially customized for high-speed roller coating (100-150m/min) and high-temperature

baking (PMT 220-240℃) of coil coating. Its 99% ultra-high purity unmodified silica (pH 6.0-7.0) achieves ≤5GU ultra-low gloss while ensuring

coating flexibility (T bend ≤1T) through a physical-chemical synergistic mechanism, breaking through the temperature resistance limit of traditional

matting agents in the coil field.

1. High temperature stability engine

≤6.0% ignition loss rate allows the particles to maintain structural integrity during baking at 240℃ (measured weight loss rate <0.8%), avoiding

extinction attenuation caused by micronization (QUV 1000h gloss fluctuation <1.5GU).

2. Pore stress buffering

The oil absorption of 260-300g/100g combined with the porous structure of 1.8-2.0ml/g absorbs the internal stress released by the high-temperature

cross-linking of the resin, which improves the crack resistance of the coating by 50% (ASTM D4145).

3. Core performance advantages

- High-speed coating adaptability: large particle size (5.5-6.0μm) reduces the shear thinning sensitivity of the coating and ensures the uniformity of

film thickness at a line speed of 150m/min (CV value <3.5%).

- Flexible matte synergy: the unmodified surface avoids cross-linking competition with amino resin, ensuring that the T-bend performance remains

1T when the gloss is ≤5GU at 60° (conventional products need to sacrifice to ≥2T).

- Interlayer adhesion enhancement: The porous structure stores 0.5-1.2% volatile matter, and the gradient release activates the cured interface, so

that the topcoat-primer adhesion reaches ISO 2409 grade 0.
