Casting Magnesium Alloy Rod are a kind of alloy material with magnesium as the main component, and made into rods by casting process. Magnesium alloy is widely used in aerospace, automotive, electronics and medical devices due to its light weight, high specific strength, good vibration damping and thermal conductivity.

Casting Magnesium Alloy Rod are lightweight, with a density of approximately 1.78g/cm³, which is 2/3 that of aluminium alloy and 1/4 that of steel, making them suitable for industrial products with weight reduction requirements. It also has a high specific strength and performs better in thin plates and thin-walled products. By casting, it is possible to make a variety of complex styles. In addition, magnesium alloy casting rods are also effective in absorbing noise and have excellent heat dissipation properties, making them suitable for electronic products. The corrosion resistance of magnesium alloy is not as good as that of aluminium alloy, but it can be improved by surface treatment (our company uses oxidation treatment).

Magnesium alloy casting rod has the advantages of magnesium, but at the same time it also has the disadvantages of magnesium alloy. During processing, magnesium shavings are flammable and require low speed cutting and with coolant. Magnesium alloy is easy to corrode in a humid environment, so avoid humid environment when placing, long-term storage needs to be sealed packaging. When welding, inert gas protection (such as TIG welding) is required to prevent oxidation.

Reference standards for magnesium alloy casting

-International standard: ASTM B80 (magnesium alloy castings), AMS 4437 (aerospace magnesium alloy).

-Domestic standard: GB/T 19078 (casting magnesium alloy).
