The working principle of common mode inductors

According to the right hand helix theorem, when the differential mode current flows through the common mode inductor, two magnetic fields cancel each other out. When the common mode current flows through the common mode coil, two mutually reinforcing magnetic fields are generated, which increases the impedance of the entire coil and attenuates the common mode current.
