G3208-4——High-precision 32mm diameter ball screw system——Hojama miniature ball screw kit
As an efficient and precise mechanical transmission device, the ball screw converts rotational motion into linear motion through the rolling of balls in the thread raceways and realizes the transmission of force. Its mechanical structure consists of components such as the screw shaft, balls, thread raceways, and nut. Thanks to its working principle and mechanical structure, the ball screw is widely used in various fields, including machine tools and automation equipment.
Ground Ball Screws and Cold Rolled Ball Screws:
Ball screws are categorized into two types: ground ball screws and rolled ball screws. For ground ball screws, the raceways are first machined into shape using a lathe tool, and then ground to the required dimensions and precision by a grinding machine. In contrast, cold-rolled ball screws are formed by extrusion during the cold rolling process, with both ends directly processed to complete the manufacturing.
1. Cold-Rolled Ball Screws
The key challenge lies in the large allowance at the bearing seat, coupled with high hardness after heat treatment. Traditional processes typically involve annealing first, followed by lathe machining, or adopting a grinding process.
2. Precision Ground Ball Screws
The main hurdle is thread cutting. After heat treatment, ground ball screws have a hardness of HRC 60-65. Conventionally, threads are formed by grinding, but this method suffers from low efficiency and a high rejection rate, which affects overall production progress.
