SKYSIL SW-300 SILICA MATTING AGENT FOR WOOD COATING

SW-300 is a silica matting agent (SiO₂ ≥98%, dry basis) with special surface chemical modification (Surface Treatment: Special). Its unique

chemical design provides a breakthrough compatibility and stability solution for wood coatings:

Weakly acidic surface chemistry (pH 6.0-7.0) optimizes the stability of water-based systems:

Different from traditional neutral matting agents, the weak acidity of SW-300 accurately matches the charge environment of water-based resins,

significantly reducing the risk of flocculation caused by electrostatic repulsion between particles. This chemical property greatly improves its

dispersion stability in water-based coatings, avoids storage coarsening and uneven matting, and maintains the permeability of the paint film.

Special surface treatment builds a "amphiphilic medium bridge":

The surface modification layer (ignition weight loss ≤10.0%) gives the particles organic-inorganic amphiphilicity. This not only enhances the

affinity with solvent-based resins, but also forms an efficient wetting anchor point in the water-based system, solving the problems of matting

agent migration and floating white from the chemical essence, and achieving a long-lasting and uniform matte effect.

Precision particle size and pores coordinate to control optical properties:

4.0-5.0μm particle size distribution (Malvern method) combined with 1.8-2.0 ml/g pore structure and high oil absorption value (260-320 ml/100g

DOA) establishes a multi-level light scattering network in the paint film, providing a delicate and soft matte texture with minimal effect on the

rheology of the paint.

SW-300, with its weakly acidic surface chemistry, special amphiphilic treatment and low volatility, has become a rare solution for optimizing the

stability, dispersibility and matte quality of water-based/solvent-based wood coatings at the same time, and is an intelligent chemical carrier for

complex formulation systems.
