In addition, when processing several samples in the same sample clip, extra care must be taken to ensure that the samples are on the same level or "plane" before starting the next step, that is, fine grinding. For plane grinding, it is better to choose relatively large completely fixed particles in order to obtain a higher uniform material removal rate, reduce grinding time and obtain the maximum flatness. Suitable PG surfaces provide samples of perfect flatness, thus reducing the preparation time taken for subsequent fine grinding steps. In addition, some surfaces retain good edges. During grinding, new grinding particles will be released to ensure consistent material removal.
