Temperature transmitters act as an interface between a temperature sensor and the display or control device. They convert the output signal of the sensor, a non-linear millivolt signal, into a linear milliamp signal which can be sent longer distances without degrading which results in more accurate measurements as well as a signal that can provide a platform for digital communications such as HART or Fieldbus
