Manufacturing Process
Steel Refining: Made of killed steel.
Tube Fabrication: Made by seamless tube process, can be hot-finished or cold-finished tubes, as specified.
Dimensions
Outer Diameter: Generally 1/2 inch to 5 inches (12.7 mm to 127 mm).
Wall Thickness: Minimum wall thickness is 0.035 inches to 0.500 inches (0.9 mm to 12.7 mm).
Length: Usually 6 meters or specific lengths as required, also available in single random lengths or double random lengths, etc., up to 25 meters.

Heat Treatment
Hot-finished tubes: should be heat treated at 1200°F (650°C) or higher.
Cold Finished Pipe: After final cold working, the pipe shall be heat treated at 1200°F (650°C) or higher, or it may be supplied in the fully annealed, isothermally annealed, or normalized and tempered condition.
Testing
Tensile Tests: Tensile tests shall be conducted on one specimen for each lot not exceeding 50 and on specimens from two tubes for each lot exceeding 50.
Flattening Tests: Flattening tests shall be conducted on one specimen at each end of each finished tube.
Expansion Tests: Expanding tests shall be conducted on one specimen at each end of each finished tube.
Hardness Tests: Brinell or Rockwell hardness tests shall be conducted on specimens from two tubes in each lot.
Product Identification
In addition to the markings specified in Specification A1016/A1016M, the markings shall include whether the tube is hot finished or cold finished.

Packaging and Transportation
Packaging: usually in bundles (hexagonal), wooden boxes, crates (steel/wood), etc., and can also be packaged as required.
Transportation requirements: During transportation, care should be taken to prevent the steel pipe from collision, scratches and corrosion. When storing, the steel pipe should be stored in a dry, well-ventilated place to avoid moisture and rust
