- Excellent processing characteristics: good flow rate, easily fills complex shapes of the mold cavity (good choice when producing parts with complicated structures/ribs); low molding temperature (190-230°C), short cycle time, which makes it an excellent option for mass production.
- Balanced mechanics: high impact strength (not fragile at room temperature), decent stiffness and tensile strength, therefore a suitable material for the vast majority of structures without reinforcements.
- Easily post-processed: well-suited for metal coatings (for example, chrome-plated ABS components), painting, silk-screen printing, hot stamping, and frosted; high gloss level, mirror-surface ABS parts can be produced without additional polishing.
- Economical: compared to other engineering plastics such as PC, PEEK, PA66, lower costs of the starting material; mold is easy to produce and molding energy costs are relatively low.
- Customizable modification: ABS plastic can be mixed with PC to create ABS/PC alloys, which have high heat resistance; reinforced by adding glass fibers, making it more rigid and flame retardant or UV-resistant depending on application.
