Operation procedure of internal fixation of rib claw

For safety reasons, closed thoracic drainage should be performed before anesthesia, and the pleura should not be damaged as much as possible during the operation. When the broken rib is found during the operation, periosteum is generally not required to be cut, and the broken rib is held with cloth forceps at a distance of 2-3cm from the broken rib to both sides for traction and reduction. After the claw plate is shaped according to the arc of the rib, the claw plate is inserted. Each claw foot on the plate is adducted and fixed, and the ribs are tightly held, which will not cause postoperative intractable pain due to compression of the intercostal nerve.

Surgical notes

The Rib Plate Claw and clamp must be routinely disinfected before use. When fixing the broken end of the rib, the intercostal nerve at the lower margin of the rib must be removed to prevent compression of the adductor nerve of the rib plate, which may cause postoperative intractable chest wall pain.
